Pilot Project for Setting up Upflow Anaerobic Sludge Blanket based SewageTreatment Plant for rejuvenation of Borsola Beel at Guwahati

Background:

Borsola Beel is located at the central part of Guwahati city and is located at a distance of 750 m South-West of Guwahati Railway Station. The Beel is surrounded by localities of Rehabari on North-East, Paltan Bazar on North, Chatribari on South & Chabipool on South-East. Borsola Beel is part of Bharalu drainage basin and the outfall of the Beel is through the sluice gates located at southern side of the Beel and is discharged in the Bharalu river then to mighty Bramhaputra River. The pilot waste water treatment facility at Borsola Beel has been executed by Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) for treatment of 2 MLD waste water by intercepting the drainage system flowing through the 8 municipal wards (18, 30-36) to the water body.
